EXAMINING THE EXTENT OF MAINTENANCE AND UTILIZATION OF RECORDS IN THE ADMINISTRATION OF PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN EBONYI STATE
Abstract:
Effective record-keeping is essential for the efficient functioning and administration of public secondary schools. This study aims to examine the extent of maintenance and utilization of records in the administration of public secondary schools in Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
The research will adopt a mixed-methods approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative research methods. The quantitative phase will involve the distribution of structured questionnaires to a representative sample of principals, teachers, and administrative staff in public secondary schools across Ebonyi State. The questionnaire will assess the current practices and challenges related to record maintenance and utilization.
In the qualitative phase, in-depth interviews and focus group discussions will be conducted with key stakeholders, including school administrators, teachers, students, and education officials. These interviews and discussions will provide a deeper understanding of the factors influencing the maintenance and utilization of records in the schools.
The study will explore various aspects of record-keeping, including the types of records maintained, the methods used for record storage, the accessibility of records, and the extent to which records are utilized in decision-making processes. It will also investigate the challenges faced in maintaining and utilizing records effectively.
The findings of this research will contribute to the existing literature on record-keeping practices in public secondary schools and provide insights into the specific context of Ebonyi State. The results will inform policymakers, school administrators, and education stakeholders about the current status of record-keeping practices and highlight areas for improvement.
The study’s outcomes are expected to have practical implications for enhancing the maintenance and utilization of records in public secondary schools in Ebonyi State. By promoting effective record-keeping practices, schools can improve administrative efficiency, enhance accountability, and facilitate evidence-based decision-making processes. Additionally, the research findings may guide the development of policies and interventions aimed at addressing the identified challenges and improving record-keeping practices in the state.
