EVALUATION OF JOB PERFORMANCE INDICATORS AS CORRELATE OF TEACHERS’ JOB PROFICIENCY IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN IMO STATE

Abstract:
This study aims to evaluate the job performance indicators as correlates of teachers’ job proficiency in public secondary schools in Imo State. The effectiveness and proficiency of teachers are crucial factors that significantly impact the quality of education and overall student outcomes. Identifying and understanding the key performance indicators that contribute to teachers’ job proficiency can provide valuable insights for educational policymakers and stakeholders to improve the educational system.

The study will employ a quantitative research design, utilizing a questionnaire survey to collect data from a representative sample of teachers in public secondary schools across Imo State. The questionnaire will be designed to assess various job performance indicators, including instructional competence, classroom management skills, subject knowledge, professional development, and interpersonal relationships.

Data analysis will involve descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis to examine the relationships between the job performance indicators and teachers’ job proficiency. The study will also consider demographic variables such as gender, years of teaching experience, and educational qualifications as potential moderating factors.

The findings of this study will provide empirical evidence on the job performance indicators that are significantly correlated with teachers’ job proficiency in public secondary schools in Imo State. The results may help educational policymakers and school administrators identify areas for improvement and develop targeted interventions to enhance teachers’ professional development and overall job proficiency.

By understanding the factors that contribute to teacher effectiveness, this study aims to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on teacher evaluation and provide practical recommendations to enhance the quality of education in Imo State. Ultimately, this research seeks to support the achievement of better educational outcomes and the overall improvement of the educational system in Imo State, Nigeria.
