Abstract:
This abstract provides an overview of the study conducted on the time, cost, and construction of public primary school classrooms in Southwestern Nigeria from 2020 to 2024. The study aimed to assess the factors influencing the construction process, the associated costs, and the time required for completion.

The construction of public primary school classrooms is essential for providing quality education to children in Nigeria. However, various challenges have impeded the timely and cost-effective completion of these projects. This study sought to identify these challenges and propose potential solutions for more efficient construction practices.

To achieve the study’s objectives, a mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative analysis and qualitative interviews. A sample of public primary school construction projects was selected from different states in Southwestern Nigeria, and data on cost, time, design, materials, and construction methods were collected and analyzed.

The findings of the study revealed several factors contributing to delays and cost overruns in the construction of public primary school classrooms. These factors included inadequate project planning, delays in the release of funds, poor project management, and challenges related to procurement and logistics. Additionally, issues such as inadequate skilled labor, inconsistent material supply, and bureaucratic procedures were identified as significant hindrances.

Based on the findings, recommendations were made to improve the construction process and enhance efficiency. These recommendations included streamlining project planning and management, ensuring timely release of funds, improving procurement procedures, enhancing coordination among stakeholders, and investing in capacity building for skilled labor.

The implications of this study are significant for policymakers, educational institutions, and construction professionals involved in the development of public primary school infrastructure. By implementing the recommended strategies, it is anticipated that construction projects will be completed more efficiently, resulting in improved educational facilities for children in Southwestern Nigeria.
