Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the impact of reproductive health outcomes on women’s labor force participation and earnings in Nigeria. Reproductive health outcomes, such as maternal health, fertility, and access to family planning services, have been recognized as crucial determinants of women’s economic empowerment and overall well-being. However, limited research has explored the specific relationship between reproductive health outcomes and women’s labor force participation and earnings in the Nigerian context.
To investigate this relationship, the study will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of nationally representative survey data with qualitative interviews. The quantitative analysis will employ econometric techniques to examine the association between reproductive health outcomes and women’s labor force participation rates, as well as their earnings. The study will control for relevant socio-demographic factors, including age, education, marital status, and location.
Additionally, qualitative interviews will be conducted with women from diverse socio-economic backgrounds to gain a deeper understanding of their experiences and perceptions regarding the impact of reproductive health outcomes on their labor force participation and earnings. These interviews will provide valuable insights into the social and cultural factors that may mediate the relationship between reproductive health outcomes and women’s economic outcomes.
The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the existing literature on the link between reproductive health and women’s economic empowerment, particularly in the Nigerian context. The results will provide policymakers, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders with evidence-based insights to inform targeted interventions and policies that promote women’s reproductive health, labor force participation, and economic well-being. Ultimately, the study aims to contribute to the achievement of gender equality and sustainable development in Nigeria.
