TEACHERS’ RATING OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PRINCIPALS’ ROLE PERFORMANCE ON SCHOOL FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN ANAMBRA STATE
Abstract:
This study aims to investigate teachers’ perceptions and ratings of the effectiveness of principals’ role performance in school financial administration in public secondary schools in Anambra State. The effective management of school finances is crucial for the provision of quality education and optimal learning environments. Principals play a vital role in overseeing financial operations within their schools, ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficient resource allocation.
The research methodology employed a quantitative approach, utilizing a survey questionnaire to gather data from a sample of teachers in selected public secondary schools in Anambra State. The questionnaire focused on assessing teachers’ perceptions of principals’ performance in various aspects of financial administration, including budgeting, financial planning, resource allocation, financial reporting, and adherence to financial regulations.
The findings of this study provide valuable insights into teachers’ ratings of principals’ role performance in school financial administration. The results highlight strengths and areas for improvement, enabling educational policymakers and school administrators to identify effective strategies for enhancing financial management practices in public secondary schools.
The implications of the study’s findings contribute to the professional development of principals, as well as the overall improvement of school financial administration in Anambra State. By understanding teachers’ perspectives on principals’ role performance, policymakers can develop targeted interventions and training programs that address specific challenges or gaps identified by teachers.
The study’s limitations include the reliance on self-reported data from teachers, which may be subject to bias or individual perceptions. Additionally, the research focuses exclusively on public secondary schools in Anambra State, limiting the generalizability of the findings to other educational contexts.
Overall, this study sheds light on the critical role of principals in school financial administration and provides valuable insights into teachers’ perspectives. It contributes to the existing body of knowledge and serves as a foundation for future research and policy development aimed at improving the effectiveness of school financial management practices in public secondary schools in Anambra State and beyond.
