Abstract:
In the 21st century, the effective integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in educational institutions has become crucial for enhancing teaching, learning, and overall management. This study aims to determine the ICT training needs of academic staff in Colleges of Education in Delta State, with the goal of bridging gaps in the management practices aligned with the demands of the digital era.

The research design employed in this study is a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative and qualitative research methods. A survey questionnaire will be distributed to academic staff members across multiple Colleges of Education in Delta State to gather quantitative data on their current ICT skills, training experiences, and perceived training needs. Additionally, semi-structured interviews will be conducted with a subset of participants to gain deeper insights into their perspectives on ICT integration and the specific skills they require.

The findings of this study will contribute to a better understanding of the ICT training needs of academic staff in Colleges of Education in Delta State. The results will identify the gaps in their current ICT competencies and shed light on the areas where additional training and support are required. Furthermore, the study will provide insights into the challenges faced by academic staff in integrating ICT tools and practices into their teaching and administrative responsibilities.

Based on the study’s findings, recommendations will be formulated to address the identified training needs. These recommendations may include the development of tailored ICT training programs, workshops, and resources to enhance the digital literacy and proficiency of academic staff. Additionally, strategies for creating a supportive institutional environment that fosters the integration of ICT in teaching and learning processes will be suggested.

The outcomes of this research will have practical implications for the management of Colleges of Education in Delta State, facilitating the effective implementation of ICT technologies and practices. Ultimately, bridging the gaps in ICT competencies among academic staff will contribute to improving the quality of education, enhancing student learning outcomes, and preparing educators for the challenges of the 21st-century educational landscape.
