THE USAGE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY AND ONLINE DATABASE FACILITIES BY BUSINESS EDUCATION LECTURERS FOR TEACHING AND RESEARCH

ABSTRACT

This research project aims to investigate the usage of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and online database facilities by business education lecturers for teaching and research purposes. The study seeks to examine the current state of ICT utilization among business education lecturers, explore the extent to which online database facilities are utilized for teaching and research, identify the benefits and challenges associated with their usage, and propose recommendations for enhancing their effective integration into the educational process.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, incorporating surveys, interviews, and observation of lecturers’ practices. The research objectives include assessing the current level of ICT usage by business education lecturers, examining the extent of utilization of online database facilities, identifying the perceived benefits and challenges of their usage, and proposing recommendations for effective integration.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the usage of ICT and online database facilities by business education lecturers for teaching and research. The research will assess the current level of ICT usage among lecturers, including their proficiency in using various technologies, such as computers, internet, multimedia tools, and educational software. Additionally, the study will explore the extent to which online database facilities are utilized by lecturers for accessing scholarly resources, conducting literature reviews, and enhancing their research endeavors. Furthermore, the research will identify the perceived benefits and challenges associated with the usage of ICT and online database facilities, considering factors such as increased access to information, improved teaching effectiveness, time efficiency, technological infrastructure limitations, and information overload. Based on the findings, recommendations will be proposed for enhancing the effective integration of ICT and online database facilities into teaching and research practices, including training programs, infrastructure improvement, collaboration with librarians, and fostering a culture of digital scholarship.

The implications of this research extend to business education lecturers, educational institutions, policymakers, and researchers. The findings will provide valuable insights to lecturers, helping them understand the current state of ICT utilization and the potential benefits of leveraging online database facilities for teaching and research. Educational institutions can utilize the research findings to develop support systems and infrastructure that facilitate the effective integration of ICT into the teaching and research practices of business education lecturers. Policymakers can consider the implications of the research when formulating policies and initiatives that promote the use of ICT and online databases in education. Researchers can also benefit from the findings by understanding the challenges faced by lecturers and exploring opportunities for further investigation
