GLOBALIZATION THROUGH BUSINESS EDUCATION IN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN NIGERIA: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

ABSTRACT

This research project aims to examine the challenges and opportunities for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in promoting globalization through business education in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The study seeks to explore the current state of ICT integration in business education, identify challenges hindering its effective utilization, assess the opportunities presented by ICT for globalizing business education, and propose recommendations for leveraging ICT to enhance globalization efforts in business education.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, incorporating surveys, interviews, and document analysis. The research objectives include assessing the current state of ICT integration in business education, identifying challenges in its effective utilization, exploring the opportunities presented by ICT for globalizing business education, and proposing recommendations for leveraging ICT to enhance globalization efforts.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the challenges and opportunities for ICT in promoting globalization through business education. The research will assess the current state of ICT integration, including the availability of infrastructure, access to technology, and faculty preparedness. Additionally, the research will identify challenges hindering its effective utilization, such as limited resources, inadequate training for faculty, and a lack of awareness of the potential of ICT in globalizing business education. Furthermore, the research will explore the opportunities presented by ICT for globalizing business education, including virtual collaborations, online learning platforms, global networking, and access to global markets. Based on the findings, recommendations will be proposed for leveraging ICT to enhance globalization efforts in business education, encompassing faculty development programs, infrastructure improvement, curriculum revision, and collaboration with international partners.
