Abstract:
This study aims to explore the attitudes of single women towards modern contraceptives in universities located in Kwara State, Nigeria. The use of modern contraceptives plays a significant role in empowering women, promoting reproductive health, and enabling family planning. However, social, cultural, and religious factors often influence individuals’ attitudes towards contraceptive methods, particularly in conservative societies like Nigeria.
The study will employ a mixed-methods research design to gather both quantitative and qualitative data. A structured questionnaire will be administered to a sample of single women enrolled in universities across Kwara State. The questionnaire will assess participants’ knowledge about modern contraceptives, their perceptions of contraceptive methods, and their overall attitude towards their use. Additionally, focus group discussions and in-depth interviews will be conducted to gain deeper insights into the factors influencing the attitudes of single women towards modern contraceptives.
The findings of this study will contribute to a better understanding of the factors that shape the attitudes of single women towards modern contraceptive methods in Kwara State. The results will provide valuable insights for policymakers, healthcare professionals, and educators involved in reproductive health programs and family planning initiatives. By identifying the factors that influence attitudes towards contraception, this study will help in developing targeted interventions to promote positive attitudes towards modern contraceptives among single women in universities.
It is expected that the study will reveal the level of knowledge about modern contraceptives among single women in universities in Kwara State, as well as the prevailing attitudes towards their use. The findings will shed light on the role of education, cultural norms, religious beliefs, and access to information in shaping attitudes towards contraceptives. Ultimately, this research aims to contribute to improved reproductive health outcomes and empower women in making informed choices regarding their sexual and reproductive well-being.
