Abstract:
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become an indispensable tool in the educational sector, transforming instructional delivery methods and enhancing learning outcomes. This abstract explores the mode of utilization of ICT resources for instructional delivery in universities located in Adamawa State, Nigeria.
The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data. A sample of university faculty members and students from various disciplines within Adamawa State were selected as participants. The research instrument used in the study was a structured questionnaire designed to assess the availability, accessibility, and utilization of ICT resources for instructional purposes.
Preliminary findings indicate that universities in Adamawa State have made significant progress in adopting ICT resources for instructional delivery. The majority of participants reported that ICT resources such as computers, internet connectivity, multimedia projectors, and learning management systems are available within their institutions. However, there are variations in the extent of utilization among different faculties and disciplines, with some faculties integrating ICT more effectively into their teaching practices compared to others.
The study also highlights the challenges faced by university faculty members and students in utilizing ICT resources for instructional delivery. These challenges include inadequate infrastructure, inconsistent power supply, limited ICT skills among faculty members, and insufficient training and support. Furthermore, socio-economic factors and cultural beliefs were identified as potential barriers to the effective integration of ICT resources in instructional delivery.
Based on the findings, the study recommends the following interventions to enhance the mode of utilization of ICT resources for instructional delivery in Adamawa State universities: infrastructure improvement, provision of reliable power supply, capacity building programs for faculty members, student ICT literacy programs, and policy support from university administrators and government agencies.
Overall, this research contributes to the existing literature on ICT integration in higher education by providing insights into the mode of utilization of ICT resources for instructional delivery in universities in Adamawa State, Nigeria. The findings can inform policymakers, university administrators, and educators in designing effective strategies to maximize the benefits of ICT in teaching and learning processes.
