Abstract:
The increasing participation of mothers in the workforce has sparked considerable debate regarding its potential effects on various aspects of child development. This study aims to investigate the relationship between maternal employment and the academic performance of first-year vocational students in Government Science and Technical Colleges.
The study adopts a quantitative research design, utilizing survey questionnaires to collect data from a sample of first-year vocational students in Government Science and Technical Colleges. The sample will be selected using a stratified random sampling technique, ensuring representation from various demographic backgrounds. The questionnaires will measure variables such as maternal employment status, working hours, level of education, and socioeconomic background. Additionally, academic performance will be assessed based on students’ grades or examination scores.
The collected data will be analyzed using appropriate statistical methods, such as correlation and regression analysis, to determine the relationship between maternal employment and academic performance. Potential confounding factors, including socioeconomic status, parental education, and family structure, will be considered as control variables.
The findings of this study will contribute to the existing literature on maternal employment and its impact on child development, specifically academic performance in vocational education settings. The results will provide insights into how maternal employment affects the educational outcomes of first-year vocational students and inform policymakers, educators, and parents about the potential benefits or challenges associated with maternal employment.
Understanding the relationship between maternal employment and academic performance is crucial for developing strategies and interventions that support vocational students’ educational attainment. This research will shed light on the various factors that influence academic performance, both within and outside the school environment, and highlight the importance of considering the unique needs of vocational students.
