Abstract:
The effective management of secondary schools is crucial for the provision of quality education and the overall development of students. In recent years, the adoption of Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) has gained significant attention as a means to enhance the management processes in educational institutions. This study aims to investigate the influence of the use of EMIS on the management of secondary schools in Enugu State.
The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. Quantitative data will be obtained through surveys distributed to principals, teachers, and other administrative staff members in secondary schools across Enugu State. The survey will assess the extent of EMIS utilization, perceived benefits, challenges, and the overall impact on school management. Qualitative data will be collected through interviews and focus group discussions with key stakeholders, including school administrators, teachers, and government officials.
The study anticipates that the use of EMIS will have several positive influences on the management of secondary schools in Enugu State. These potential benefits include improved data management and analysis, enhanced decision-making processes, increased efficiency in resource allocation, and better monitoring and evaluation of educational programs. Additionally, the study will identify specific challenges and barriers faced in the implementation of EMIS, such as technical issues, limited training opportunities, and resistance to change.
The findings of this research will have practical implications for policymakers, school administrators, and other stakeholders involved in the management of secondary schools in Enugu State. The results will provide valuable insights into the current status of EMIS implementation and its impact on school management. The study will also offer recommendations to overcome the identified challenges and optimize the use of EMIS in secondary schools.
In conclusion, this research seeks to contribute to the existing knowledge on the influence of EMIS on the management of secondary schools in Enugu State. By exploring the benefits, challenges, and overall impact of EMIS utilization, the study aims to provide evidence-based recommendations for effectively integrating and leveraging EMIS to improve educational management practices in Enugu State and potentially serve as a model for other regions facing similar challenges.
