Abstract:
This research study investigates the influence of parental provision of health needs and physiological needs on the academic achievement of public secondary school students in Anambra State, Nigeria. The study aims to explore the relationship between parental support in meeting the health and physiological needs of students and their academic performance. It also seeks to identify the specific aspects of health and physiological needs that are most influential in shaping academic achievement.
The study adopts a quantitative research design, employing a survey questionnaire to collect data from a sample of public secondary school students in Anambra State. The questionnaire will assess the extent of parental provision of health needs, such as access to healthcare, nutritious food, and safe environments, as well as physiological needs, including adequate sleep, physical activity, and hygiene.
The academic achievement of students will be measured using their cumulative grade point averages (CGPAs) obtained from school records. Other demographic variables, such as gender, socioeconomic status, and parental education, will be considered as potential moderating factors.
The data collected will be analyzed using statistical techniques, including correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis, to determine the relationship between parental provision of health needs, physiological needs, and academic achievement. The findings will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the role of parental support in enhancing student academic performance.
The results of this study are expected to provide valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and parents in Anambra State and beyond. Understanding the influence of parental provision of health and physiological needs on academic achievement can help inform interventions and strategies aimed at improving student outcomes and promoting holistic development.
