EXPLORING THE ROLE OF DATA ANALYTICS IN LEVERAGING PERSONAL RECORDS FOR DECISION-MAKING IN NIGERIAN PUBLIC SECTOR ORGANISATIONS

Abstract:
In recent years, the Nigerian public sector has witnessed a significant increase in the generation and collection of personal records, including demographic data, employment history, and performance evaluations. However, the effective utilization of this wealth of personal records for informed decision-making remains a challenge. This abstract presents a study that aims to explore the role of data analytics in leveraging personal records to enhance decision-making processes within Nigerian public sector organizations.

The study will adopt a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of personal records data and qualitative interviews with key stakeholders in selected public sector organisations. The quantitative analysis will involve the application of data mining and statistical techniques to identify patterns, trends, and correlations within the personal records. This analysis will provide insights into areas such as employee performance, training needs, and succession planning.

Furthermore, qualitative interviews will be conducted with decision-makers, human resource managers, and employees to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with leveraging personal records for decision-making. The interviews will explore factors such as data quality, privacy concerns, organizational culture, and the availability of analytical tools and expertise.

The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on data analytics and decision-making in the Nigerian public sector. The research will provide insights into the potential benefits of leveraging personal records for evidence-based decision-making, including improved workforce planning, enhanced employee performance, and targeted training interventions. Additionally, the study will highlight the barriers and enablers to successful implementation, including the need for data governance frameworks, data privacy regulations, and investment in analytical capabilities.
