STRATEGIES TO PROMOTE SCHOOL INDUSTRY COLLABORATION FOR IMPROVING SKILLS AMONG BUSINESS EDUCATION STUDENTS IN RIVERS STATE

ABSTRACT

This research project aims to investigate strategies to promote school-industry collaboration for improving skills among business education students in Rivers State. School-industry collaboration is a valuable approach that bridges the gap between educational institutions and the business community, providing students with practical experiences, industry-relevant skills, and opportunities for career development. This study seeks to identify effective strategies for fostering collaboration between schools and industries in Rivers State, explore the benefits and challenges associated with such collaborations, and propose recommendations for enhancing skill development among business education students.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, combining surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions to gather data from business education students, educators, and industry representatives. The research objectives include identifying strategies to promote school-industry collaboration, assessing the perceived benefits and challenges of such collaborations, and providing recommendations for strengthening and expanding collaborative efforts for skill development.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into strategies to promote school-industry collaboration for skill improvement among business education students. The research will identify effective strategies employed by educational institutions and industries to facilitate collaboration, such as internships, apprenticeships, industry visits, guest lectures, and collaborative projects. The findings will provide students with insights into the benefits of school-industry collaboration and the strategies they can utilize to enhance their skill development.
