ABSTRACT
Crime exerts a detrimental influence on the global socio-economic landscape. Consequently, the Ethiopian Federal Police and other law enforcement agencies are committed to effectively curbing criminal activities. To achieve this goal, these agencies rely on scientific evidence during crime investigations, and one such critical piece of evidence is fingerprints. Fingerprint analysis plays a pivotal role in crime investigation and the administration of justice by providing scientifically sound data. One of the paramount challenges in the field of automatic fingerprint identification and verification is ensuring the accurate extraction of minutiae, which are the distinctive fingerprint features.
