THE UTILIZATION OF SOCIAL MEDIA FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES BY BUSINESS EDUCATION STUDENTS IN NIGERIAN COLLEGES OF EDUCATION

ABSTRACT

This research project aims to investigate the utilization of social media for academic purposes by business education students in Nigerian colleges of education. Social media platforms have gained widespread popularity and have become integral parts of students’ lives. This study seeks to explore how business education students in Nigerian colleges of education utilize social media for academic purposes, examine the benefits and challenges associated with its use, and propose recommendations to optimize its effectiveness.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, combining surveys, interviews, and data analysis to gather information from business education students, faculty members, and administrators in Nigerian colleges of education. The research objectives include assessing the extent of social media use for academic purposes, identifying the specific platforms and activities utilized, and examining the perceived benefits and challenges. The study will also gather recommendations from stakeholders on best practices for leveraging social media in the academic context.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the utilization of social media for academic purposes by business education students in Nigerian colleges of education.
