ABSTRACT

This research project aims to examine the organization and leadership skills required of business education students for job performance in universities in South West, Nigeria. In today’s competitive job market, employers seek candidates with strong organizational and leadership skills to drive success within their organizations. This study seeks to investigate the specific organization and leadership skills deemed essential for job performance among business education students in universities in South West, Nigeria, and to propose recommendations for developing and enhancing these skills.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, combining surveys, interviews, and job performance assessments to gather data from business education students, faculty members, and employers in universities in South West, Nigeria. The research objectives include identifying the organization and leadership skills considered important for job performance, assessing the current skill levels of business education students, and gathering recommendations for curriculum development and skill enhancement.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the organization and leadership skills required of business education students for job performance in universities in South West, Nigeria. The research will identify the specific organization skills, such as time management, planning, and prioritization, that are crucial for efficient job performance. It will also explore the leadership skills, including effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, that enable students to contribute to organizational success. Furthermore, the study will assess the current skill levels of business education students and identify areas of improvement and skill gaps. It will gather recommendations from stakeholders, including faculty members and employers, on curriculum development strategies, pedagogical approaches, and experiential learning opportunities for enhancing organization and leadership skills among business education students.

The implications of this research extend to educational policymakers, curriculum developers, business education faculty members, and students in universities in South West, Nigeria. The findings will provide policymakers and curriculum developers with insights into the specific organization and leadership skills required for job performance and the importance of incorporating them into business education curricula. They can utilize the research findings to inform the development of guidelines and standards that align with industry expectations. Business education faculty members can benefit from the research findings by understanding the essential organization and leadership skills and integrating them into their teaching practices. Students can use the research findings to recognize the significance of developing organization and leadership skills and actively engage in learning experiences that enhance these competencies
