APPLICATION OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN TEACHING BUSINESS EDUCATION COURSES AMONG STUDENTS IN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN BENUE STATE

ABSTRACT

This research project aims to investigate the application of new technologies in teaching business education courses among students in tertiary institutions in Benue State, Nigeria. With the rapid advancement of technology, there is a growing need to integrate innovative technological tools and platforms into educational practices. This study seeks to examine the extent to which new technologies are utilized in teaching business education courses, explore the benefits and challenges associated with their implementation, and identify strategies for effective integration in the context of Benue State.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, combining surveys, interviews, and classroom observations to gather data from students and instructors in tertiary institutions in Benue State. The research objectives include assessing the current use of new technologies in teaching business education courses, exploring the perceived benefits and challenges, identifying the preferred technologies and tools, and recommending strategies for effective integration.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the application of new technologies in teaching business education courses among students in Benue State. The research will assess the extent to which new technologies, such as learning management systems, multimedia presentations, online collaboration tools, and educational software, are currently utilized by instructors. It will explore the perceived benefits of integrating new technologies, such as improved student engagement, enhanced learning outcomes, and increased accessibility to educational resources. Additionally, the study will identify the challenges encountered, including limited infrastructure, inadequate technical support, resistance to change, and disparities in digital literacy skills. Based on the findings, the research will provide recommendations for effective integration, including faculty development programs, infrastructure improvements, and pedagogical guidelines.

The implications of this research extend to educators, policymakers, and stakeholders involved in business education in Benue State. The findings will provide educators with valuable insights into the current use, benefits, and challenges of integrating new technologies in teaching business education courses. Educators can use the research recommendations to enhance their instructional practices and improve student learning experiences. Policymakers can utilize the research findings to develop policies and initiatives that promote the effective integration of new technologies in tertiary institutions. Additionally, stakeholders can support infrastructure development, facilitate training programs, and provide resources to promote the successful implementation of new technologies in business education
