ABSTRACT

This research project aims to explore the perception of business educators regarding the relevance of integrating globalized employability skills into the business education curriculum in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. In an increasingly globalized and competitive job market, it is crucial to examine educators’ perspectives on the importance of equipping students with the skills necessary to thrive in a global business environment.

The study will employ a qualitative research design, utilizing interviews and focus group discussions to gather data from business educators in selected tertiary institutions across Nigeria. The research objectives include examining educators’ understanding of globalized employability skills, assessing their perception of the relevance of these skills in the business education curriculum, and identifying potential challenges and opportunities associated with their integration.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing literature by providing insights into the perception of business educators regarding the importance of globalized employability skills in the business education curriculum. The research will shed light on the specific skills deemed necessary for students to succeed in a global job market, such as intercultural competence, communication skills, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities. Additionally, the study will explore educators’ perspectives on the integration of these skills into the curriculum, including their perceived benefits and potential barriers.

The implications of this research extend to curriculum developers, educational policymakers, and business education institutions. The findings will inform curriculum developers about the importance of integrating globalized employability skills into the business education curriculum and guide them in identifying the most effective strategies for implementation. Educational policymakers can utilize the research findings to shape policies that support the integration of these skills and promote the overall quality and relevance of business education in Nigeria. Business education institutions can use the research findings to enhance their instructional practices and ensure that graduates are well-prepared for the demands of the global job market.
