EFFECT OF CYBERCRIME ATTACKS ON FINTECH AND THE FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF DMBS.

Abstract:

In recent years, the rapid growth of financial technology (fintech) and the increased adoption of digital mobile banking services (DMBS) have transformed the financial industry, offering convenience and efficiency to consumers and businesses alike. However, this digital transformation has also attracted the attention of cybercriminals, leading to a surge in cybercrime attacks targeting fintech platforms and DMBS providers. This abstract aims to explore the effects of such cybercrime attacks on both the fintech industry and the financial performance of DMBS providers.

This study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis and qualitative insights from industry experts. The quantitative analysis involves examining financial data from DMBS providers, such as revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction metrics, both before and after cybercrime attacks. The qualitative component entails conducting interviews and surveys with key stakeholders, including DMBS providers, cybersecurity experts, and regulatory authorities, to gather their perspectives on the impact of cybercrime attacks.

The findings of this study are expected to highlight the following key points: First, the prevalence of cybercrime attacks on fintech platforms and DMBS providers has increased in recent years, posing significant risks to the financial industry. Second, the financial performance of DMBS providers is likely to be adversely affected by cybercrime attacks, leading to potential revenue losses, reputational damage, and increased operational costs associated with cybersecurity measures. Third, customer trust and confidence in DMBS platforms may be undermined as a result of cybercrime attacks, potentially leading to decreased adoption and usage of these services.

The implications of this research are twofold. Firstly, it will provide valuable insights for DMBS providers, enabling them to better understand the potential impact of cybercrime attacks on their financial performance and take proactive measures to mitigate risks. Secondly, it will inform policymakers and regulatory authorities about the urgent need to strengthen cybersecurity frameworks and regulations within the fintech industry, ensuring the security and stability of digital financial services.

In conclusion, this study seeks to shed light on the effects of cybercrime attacks on fintech and the financial performance of DMBS providers. By examining both quantitative and qualitative data, this research aims to contribute to the understanding of the challenges posed by cyber threats in the digital financial landscape and provide recommendations for safeguarding the industry’s future growth and sustainability.
