INVESTIGATING THE IMPACT OF SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING ON BODY COMPOSITION AND FLEXIBILITY.

Abstract:
Synchronized swimming is a unique sport that combines elements of swimming, gymnastics, and dance. While previous studies have examined the physical demands and physiological benefits of synchronized swimming, limited research has specifically focused on its impact on body composition and flexibility. This study aims to investigate the effects of synchronized swimming on body composition and flexibility in female athletes.

The study will involve a sample of synchronized swimmers aged between 18 and 25 years. Anthropometric measurements, including body mass, body fat percentage, and muscle mass, will be assessed using standardized techniques. Flexibility will be evaluated through a series of flexibility tests, such as sit-and-reach, shoulder flexibility, and hip flexibility tests.

The participants will be divided into two groups: synchronized swimmers and a control group consisting of non-swimmers. The synchronized swimmers group will undergo their regular training routine, while the control group will not engage in any synchronized swimming activities. Both groups will be assessed at baseline, and after a 12-week intervention period.

Data analysis will involve comparing the changes in body composition and flexibility between the two groups using appropriate statistical methods. Additionally, correlations between training volume, duration, and participants’ body composition and flexibility outcomes will be examined.

It is hypothesized that synchronized swimming will have a positive impact on body composition, resulting in decreased body fat percentage and increased muscle mass. Furthermore, it is expected that synchronized swimmers will exhibit greater flexibility compared to the control group.

The findings of this study will contribute to the existing body of literature on the physiological effects of synchronized swimming. The results may have implications for sport-specific training programs and may provide valuable insights for coaches, synchronized swimming athletes, and individuals seeking to improve their body composition and flexibility.
