THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT TRAINING PROTOCOLS ON MUSCULAR ENDURANCE IN NIGERIAN BOXERS.

Abstract:
Muscular endurance plays a crucial role in the performance of boxers, enabling them to sustain high-intensity efforts over extended durations. This abstract presents a study conducted to investigate the effects of different training protocols on muscular endurance in Nigerian boxers. The study aimed to identify optimal training strategies to enhance muscular endurance and improve boxing performance among Nigerian athletes.

The research employed a randomized controlled trial design, with a sample size of 60 Nigerian boxers divided into three groups: Group A, Group B, and Group C. Each group followed a specific training protocol for a duration of 12 weeks. Group A focused on high-intensity interval training (HIIT), Group B engaged in circuit training, and Group C served as the control group, maintaining their regular training routines without any additional intervention.

The participants’ muscular endurance was assessed using standardized tests before and after the 12-week training period. The tests included push-ups, sit-ups, and squat jumps, which represented upper body, core, and lower body muscular endurance, respectively. Data analysis involved statistical techniques such as analysis of variance (ANOVA) and post-hoc tests.

Preliminary results indicated significant improvements in muscular endurance within Group A (HIIT) and Group B (circuit training) compared to the control group (Group C). Both experimental groups displayed enhanced performance across all three muscular endurance tests, with greater improvements observed in Group A for push-ups and Group B for sit-ups and squat jumps. These findings suggest that both HIIT and circuit training protocols can effectively enhance muscular endurance in Nigerian boxers.

These results have significant implications for the training and conditioning of Nigerian boxers, as they provide evidence-based guidelines for optimizing muscular endurance. Coaches and trainers can incorporate HIIT and circuit training approaches into their programs to enhance the performance of Nigerian boxers in the ring. However, further research is needed to explore the long-term effects, sustainability, and potential drawbacks of these training protocols.

In conclusion, this study contributes to the understanding of training methodologies for improving muscular endurance in Nigerian boxers. The findings support the implementation of HIIT and circuit training as effective strategies to enhance performance in the sport of boxing. Future studies should continue investigating various training protocols and their impact on different aspects of athletic performance to optimize training regimens for Nigerian boxers and athletes in similar combat sports
