APPRAISAL OF ADMINISTRATIVE WORKS OF PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOL PRINCIPALS IN ANAMBRA STATE
Abstract:
This study aims to examine and evaluate the administrative works of public secondary school principals in Anambra State, Nigeria. The role of principals in educational institutions is crucial for the effective management and overall development of schools. This research focuses on assessing the performance and effectiveness of principals in discharging their administrative duties and responsibilities.
The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative research methods. It utilizes interviews, surveys, and document analysis to gather data from a sample of public secondary school principals in Anambra State. The qualitative data obtained from interviews and document analysis provides an in-depth understanding of the challenges, opportunities, and strategies employed by principals in their administrative roles. The quantitative data collected through surveys aims to measure the perception of teachers, students, and other stakeholders regarding the performance of principals.
The research findings will shed light on the strengths and weaknesses of principals in the administrative domain, identify areas for improvement, and highlight best practices. The study will also explore the impact of principals’ administrative effectiveness on school climate, academic performance, and overall school development.
The outcomes of this research will be instrumental in informing educational policymakers, school governing bodies, and other stakeholders about the appraisal and professional development needs of public secondary school principals. The study’s recommendations may contribute to the formulation of policies and the implementation of interventions aimed at enhancing the administrative competence and effectiveness of principals in Anambra State.
