AN EMPIRICAL INQUIRY INTO THE STRATEGIES AND ROLE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA
Abstract:
This empirical inquiry aims to investigate the strategies and role of entrepreneurship education in fostering sustainable development in Nigeria. With the growing recognition of entrepreneurship as a driver of economic growth and social progress, this study focuses on the Nigerian context, where entrepreneurship has the potential to address pressing developmental challenges.
The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques. The study begins with a comprehensive review of literature on entrepreneurship education, sustainable development, and the Nigerian context. This forms the foundation for developing a conceptual framework that guides the research process.
Primary data is collected through surveys administered to students, educators, and entrepreneurship practitioners across various educational institutions and entrepreneurship support organizations in Nigeria. Additionally, in-depth interviews and focus group discussions are conducted to gain deeper insights into the strategies employed and the role of entrepreneurship education in sustainable development.
The study examines the current state of entrepreneurship education in Nigeria, exploring the curriculum, teaching methods, and resources available to students. It investigates the perceived impact of entrepreneurship education on sustainable development outcomes, such as job creation, poverty alleviation, and environmental sustainability.
Furthermore, the research analyzes the challenges and constraints faced by entrepreneurship education initiatives in Nigeria, including issues related to funding, infrastructure, policy support, and stakeholder collaboration. It also identifies best practices and success factors that contribute to effective entrepreneurship education programs.
The findings of this study will provide valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and other stakeholders involved in entrepreneurship education and sustainable development in Nigeria. The research aims to inform the design and implementation of evidence-based strategies that enhance the role of entrepreneurship education in fostering sustainable development.
Ultimately, this empirical inquiry seeks to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on entrepreneurship education and provide practical recommendations for strengthening entrepreneurship education efforts in Nigeria. By leveraging the potential of entrepreneurial mindsets and skills, Nigeria can unlock the transformative power of entrepreneurship to drive sustainable development and address socio-economic challenges effectively.
