Abstract:
This study aims to assess the impact of emerging technologies on the academic performance of Building/Woodwork Technology students at Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. The rapid advancement of technology has significantly influenced various sectors, including the field of education. The integration of emerging technologies into the teaching and learning process has the potential to enhance students’ academic performance by providing them with innovative tools and resources.

The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative research methods. Quantitative data will be collected through surveys and academic records, while qualitative data will be gathered through interviews and focus group discussions. The study will target Building/Woodwork Technology students at Tai Solarin University of Education, selected through a purposive sampling technique.

The research will explore various emerging technologies that can be utilized in the context of Building/Woodwork Technology education. These technologies may include virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), 3D modeling, computer-aided design (CAD), and computer numerical control (CNC) machines. The study will investigate the students’ perceptions of these technologies, their frequency of use, and their impact on their academic performance.

The findings of this study will provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of integrating emerging technologies into the Building/Woodwork Technology curriculum. It will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by highlighting the potential benefits and challenges associated with the adoption of these technologies in the educational context. Furthermore, the research findings will inform policymakers, educators, and curriculum developers about the importance of incorporating emerging technologies into teaching practices in order to enhance students’ academic performance.
