THE IMPACT OF PRINCIPALS’ ORGANIZING STRATEGIES FOR SCHOOL PLANT MAINTENANCE IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN AWKA EDUCATION ZONE OF ANAMBRA STATE

Abstract

This study was carried out to examine principals’ organizing strategies for school plant maintenance in secondary schools. The study was carried out in public secondary schools in Awka Education zone. The design adopted for the study was descriptive survey. The population comprised 18 principals in the 18 public secondary schools in the zone. The whole population was studied using purposive sampling technique. A researcher-developed instrument titled “Principals Organizing Strategies for School Plant Maintenance Questionnaire” (POSSPMQ) was used for data collection. POSSPMQ was duly validated. The co-efficient of 0.82 was obtained for POSSPMQ using Cronbach Alpha method. The researcher collected the data from the respondents.  The research question was answered using mean while t-test and ANOVA were used to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance.  Findings indicated that respondents agreed on principals’ organizing strategies for school plant maintenance in secondary schools in Awka Education zone. It was among others recommended that principals should strictly monitor school plant and ensure that the school plants are continually maintained because of roles of school plan in effective teaching and learning in secondary schools.
